Stephen Curry on playing with LeBron James: 'Hopefully, there will be more experiences in the future'
NBA fans were thrilled to watch Curry, 36, and James, 39, — who have long been rivals as two of the league’s biggest stars — join forces for the first time towin gold for Team USAat the 2024Paris Olympics. It was just as — if not more — thrilling for the Golden State Warriors star, who tells PEOPLE he was excited to put aside any former rivalry and team up with James. “All the battles we’ve had on the court and the back and forth, the fact that we actually got to be teammates, not just in any game like an All-Star game or whatever, but in high stakes basketball with a lot on the line…I think there’s a deepened respect and friendship there,” Curry says while discussing his new investment and partnership withNirvana Super Waters & Seltzers. “Hopefully, there will be more experiences in the future, even if we’re teammates or not,” he adds, noting that the two basketball greats “still have to compete against each other until it’s all over” when they return to their respective NBA teams for a new season in October.

“It’s everything that most people don’t get to see. It’s the time on the recovery table, it’s the time in the weight room, it’s day in, day out,” explains Curry, who says staying hydrated with Nirvana Super Waters (which include HMB, a natural substance the company says helps individuals build and maintain lean muscle mass) has become a staple of his recovery routine. “That little bit of investment in preparing your body and your mind to perform. There’s nothing really glamorous about it. It’s extremely hard work. It gets monotonous at times and dealing with all the bumps and bruises of being an athlete, injuries that you have and all that type of stuff, it’s a grind.” “I think we motivated each other even more to however much longer we have left playing,” Curry adds of his Olympic experience with James.

Amid a hectic off-season between the Olympics and welcoming his fourth child,Caius Chai Curry, with his wife Ayesha on May 11, 2024, the NBA star tells PEOPLE the excitement to suit up for the Warriors hasn’t faded a bit. Curry says his continued joy for each season comes from “the fact that basketball is going to end at some point.” “You can’t play this game for life, but the fact that being with the Warriors for this long and championship window that we’ve had, you want to keep that open for as long as possible.”

Stephen Curry: 'I love the fact that people don't think we can keep the pace with some of the other teams that they're picking in the West'
Golden State parted ways with Stephen Curry’s longtime sidekick and “splash brother”Klay Thompsonlast season, which he anticipates will be a “challenge” for his squad, but the Olympian likes being counted out. “I love the fact that people don’t think we can keep the pace with some of the other teams that they’re picking in the West,” he says. “And I just love that challenge of stepping into a training camp and being able to create your own success — that gets me going.” “And obviously coming off of this Olympic experience, I’m trying to channel that energy all year.”

Kevon Looney on Steve Kerr benching Jayson Tatum at Olympics: 'When he makes a call like that and it actually works out, you kind of have to take it'
Subsequently,Jayson Tatum’s substitution patternswere a topic on Twitter and Tyrese Haliburton celebrated getting credit for a group project and participating minimally. “I know as a player, it sucks,” said Looney. “I know that they went out there to sacrifice and give minutes for our country and not seeing him get minutes sometimes is always gonna be tough especially dividing the talent and then who’s deserving to play but Steve’s all about winning; he’s going to do all the necessary things to win and he did win so… and when he makes a call like that and it actually works out, you kind of have to take it. He’s a coach that won as a player, a GM and as a head coach. So, you kind of have to respect his basketball knowledge; they have a lot of great minds over here. If he sees something on the court, he’s usually right.”

Over the weekend, a picture of a very chiseled Kevon Looney surfaced. The 6’9 Golden State Warriors big man is focused. “I’ve been doing a lot of work,” Kevon Looney tells Scoop B Radio of his chiseled frame. “Going into this season a little different, expand my game and try to grow a little bit.” Not only has the new-look Looney been focusing on his body, the big man’s goal is to have his play match on the court. “I’m going to shoot the ball a lot more,” said Looney. “It’s something that I’ve been practicing for years, but now it’s time for me to shoot threes, shoot more midranges. Steve wanted me to improve in that area so I mean, I’ve been shooting a lot of shots and feeling good about my game and so it’s going to be a lot of surprises next year.”

Looney shares that he learned a lot from CP3 during his tenure with the Warriors. “He surprised me a lot,” he said. “After competing against him for years, I respect him as a player and a basketball mind already but he was always our archrival — it was whatever the team he was on, it was always Chris Paul! So he got a lot of hate in our locker room for a long time. But by actually having him on our side and competing to win and going to war with him, he gained so much more respect from me, you know? He’s already a Hall of Fame player and just to learn from him and see his work ethic every day? You see how much he really loves the game of basketball, how much he cares about growing the game and how the game continues to carry on is just amazing. I learned a lot from him. I learned how to be more professional, how to take care of yourself… for him to be in Year 20 next year as a small guard and STILL competing at a high level as a starter and as a big time player, as a guy going into Year 10, I want to be able to play long time like him so I have to be able to see how he takes care of his body and how he watches the game and loves the game, seeing his thought process really changed mine too.”

Floyd Mayweather brought 'all the soul food' in Las Vegas while Paul George was at the hospital
Paul George: It was so many people reaching out through phone I know there was people there at the hospital, but Floyd came every day. Paul George Sr.: He came there… I mean he said ‘forget the hospital food’, and he brought all the soul food in Vegas. The floor was smelling like you was at Mama’s Kitchen. Paul George: I was at the hospital maybe six, seven days, and Floyd probably came three or four days out of that. He was like ‘P, I’mma come, I’ll be back tomorrow, I’mma come check on you’… Next day comes and he was there, fresh plate. Soul food, man. Big shout out to Floyd man.

Robert Horry on Lakers targeting Luka Doncic: 'You got to take beers out of his hand'
Rob Jenners: You’re gonna end up paying Luka Doncic I mean insane money to try and get him out of Dallas but I don’t foresee a scenario where he leaves Dallas. Robert Horry: Do you remember we had the same scenario about two or three years ago we were talking about Giannis, like the Lakers was playing a long game to get Giannis… I think he signed that huge deal.. It’s either these Laker lovers who just trying to throw rumors out there or these people who are just sitting around just saying what insane sh*t can we say. Jenners: It’s the dumbest thing we can drum up, how about Luka Doncic to the Lakers, there you go. Robert Horry: “You got to think about this, Luka is gonna be how old in what like 31, 32? Jenners: By the time his deal’s up? Horry: Yeah. Jenners: Yeah maybe. Horry: He ain’t the best defensive player now and that’s the Lakers problem. You got to have some athletic guys that can play some defense and Luka, he can score the best of them but we also know you got to take beers out of his hands cuz he ain’t the one that stay in shape… He ain’t gonna be what you need probably.”

Robert Horry on Anthony Edwards' take on MJ era: 'You just slapped Vince Carter, Karl Malone, Charles Barkley, Shawn Kemp in the face'
Robert Horry on Anthony Edwards’ take on MJ era: ‘For me I think he just, he was trying to be comic relief now because we that you think about it, you just slapped Vince Carter in the face you just slapped Karl Malone in the face, you just slapped Charles Barkley, you just slapped Shawn Kemp in the face… These are just some of the guys I can say off the top of my head… Then he said ‘I didn’t watch back in the day’. Magic Johnson was out of the League when you was f*cking born, MJ was out of the League when you was born, so why you even commenting about MJ? So I just laugh. He’s is comedy relief when it comes to certain things because he put himself in that position after the crazy sh*t he said, like he’s going to be the go-to guy of Team USA. How do you think you can be the go-to guy with LeBron, KD, and especially Steph?
